Textile Illuminations |

Beginning this workshop with a number of blank canvases, you will experiment with various ways of painting and printing cloth, including the process of batik. You will then develop some of these samplers by dissecting, joining and layering. Most of the embellishing will be done through a series of exercises involving creative machine embroidery, though there will be ample opportunity to do some hand embroidery and to use a wide range of buttons, beads, ribbons and such like. The end result will be some intricate pieces of textile art. Towards the end of the week, should you wish, there will be time to turn those works into simply-constructed items such as wall-hangings, bags and cushions. |
