This course is an opportunity to delve into the woods and along the walkways surrounding Ullapool,
taking time to adjust to the natural sights and sounds and to savour the experience.
The Friday evening will set the scene forthe weekend, allowing us to get to know each other, enjoy a glass of wine
and do a little preparation for the two days ahead.
On each of the following days we will begin with a walk, during which you will be encouraged to
collect mementos, take photographs, make field notes, draw or write anything which comes to mind. You may, of course,
wish just to walk in silence. If the weather permits, we may do a little writing in situ.

After morning break, we will gather together for a gentle and informal creative writing session,
devised to give you a voice with which to
express and reflect upon your experiences on the walk. These writing sessions are entirely voluntary and at no
time will you be asked to share your work with the group. For those of you who do not wish to join in, there will be plenty of work on this theme by other writers
available for you to read and enjoy.
The afternoons will be given over to the soothing processes associated with printing and book-making.
You will make hand-made paper,
using gathered materials, do collage and printing, all of which will lead up to
the construction of a hand-bound, illustrated journal: a tactile presentation of your very own words from the wood .
