How to make a quilt

Have you long harboured a dream of making your own quilt? Many people have half-finished projects stuffed in the back of a cupboard. Even more people have saved cherished scraps of fabric, from wedding dresses, baby clothes and the like, with the plan that one day they will incorporate them into an heirloom quilt. But ... there is never the time or the space to do it!

This course is designed to make your dreams a reality. Bring along any bits of cloth you like - or start with a blank canvas - its up to you. In the course of five days, you will cut, join, applique and quilt to your heart's content. The best results come with allowing your original plan to develop as the making progresses, so don't arrive with too fixed an idea of how your quilt should look. The process of making a quilt is quite demanding, in that you will spend lengthy periods cutting and ironing; machine and hand stitching; bending and stretching as the quilt is assembled. Of course, the rewards are tremendous, but you must be resonably fit. Jan's mission is to make sure that everyone leaves with the finished article!

All materials provided. Strictly limited to six places (quilting takes up a lot of room), so book early!
