Under the twisted limbs of erotic trees
The ferns unravel,
Jet against lime,
Bluebell upon grass,
On a floor with lush abandon.
The blackbird loudspeakers over the garden
Lovers as they murmur their way
Along a path followed
By rain as it runs
From the palms.
I play the rib of last year's fern.
I smudge the midge all over my face.
I come at last to
The azaleas:
A taste of honey,
The reek of patchouli
And the dancing bells of an Indian seduction.

Just to get the knack.

With my shoes slipping off,
My roots grasp the land
My head circles the croft.
