This course allows you to take a theme, such as a journey or a special event in your life, and interpret and record it through the process of altering an old book. You will use a wide range of materials, such as paint, glue, wire, card, photos and memorabilia, in order to marry the contents and layout of the original book with your own words and illustrations. You can take advantage of those elements of the book which seem to want to be preserved and yet remove or alter the rest of the book, by way of features such as drawers, pockets, pull-out pages, secret compartments - whatever helps to present your theme in an exciting or imaginative way.
Old books and all other materials are provided. Please come with a theme in mind and a few bits and pieces that you want to incorporate into your book.
